Carmella Carter is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with extensive experience providing individual, couples and family therapy, crisis intervention, and specialized support for mental health, substance use disorders, and intellectual disabilities. She currently serves as an Advanced Social Work Practitioner at Benson Health, where she conducts comprehensive clinical assessments, care management and transition-of-care services.

Throughout her career, Carmella has held key clinical and leadership roles across North Carolina, including EAP Counselor/Incident Manager at Workplace Options, Team Lead and Family Support Specialist at NC Mentor, Multisystemic Therapist at Easterseals UCP, and Clinical Supervisor at Challenges & Choices Behavioral Services. Driven by a commitment to expanding mental health access in underserved communities, she brings a deep, person-centered approach to every patient interaction.

Carmella holds a Master of Social Work from the University of South Carolina and a Bachelor of Social Work from Methodist University. A Fayetteville native, she enjoys gardening, traveling, and spending time with her husband, Robert, their blended family of seven children, ten grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
